Faux Faux La Bardot
04:08
|
|||
Skin breaks
Scab starts
It falls off
I get dressed
In full health
At maximum strength
I stride confidently through the night streets
I find myself in this burlesque club
Full of strange stuff
A glittering array of distractions
Some of which demand my attention...
I meet someone called Faux Faux La Bardot
We go home and have...conversations.
She has a cat in her bag
She elaborates, as the night wanes,
And the morning claims engagement with things less trivial.
I get home and see the cat
It looks at me like "What you looking at?"
I gave her some semi-skimmed milk
She looked at me and said,
"Let’s get one thing straight, it’s full fat or nowt!"
She went out
Not seen her since.
I’m not so healthy these days,
Think that cat was...cursed.
Skin breaks
Scab starts
It falls off
I move on
In full health
At maximum strength
I stride confidently through the night streets
Cursed no more, cursed no more,
Cursed no more...

Posh Town Witchcult
04:24
|
|||
On a fancy development
On the edge of the greenbelt
Understated topiary
Zero graffiti
This is the place Julia went peculiar
Started reading books by obscure nihilists
Doing research into occult practices
Changed the name of her children to Okra and Aubergine
Her partner left her for someone less challenging...
Julia...stares through ya
Yeah Julia, through ya, through ya
She went on the dark web
Set up a network
Collecting followers
All called 'anonymous'
They meet up on Sundays and go into the woods
Bet they don’t discuss topiary
Want someone to invite me...
Julia...stares through ya
Yeah Julia, stares through ya, through ya
Julia...........

Fridgehead Canoe
03:04
|
|||
Frosty Lucy draws a circle round her body,
No one ever steps inside it.
Works with Andrew, has a roof rack with a canoe,
Always on it.
They run a flower shop
Down a ginnel
When I've been past it no one’s ever in it...
There’s something not right 'bout the pair of 'em
I think the flower shop’s a cover for something sinister
They’ve been seen in the shadows late at night
Taking in deliveries
And there once was a fire at both adjoining properties.
I went by their shop the other day
But police tape barred my way
Two florists had been arrested
They found a head in the fridge
And the canoe was found to be
Full of counterfeit money.
Fridgehead.......money.......Fridgehead...and the money...
...And the canoe...

Cockroach Frequency
03:55
|
|||
The frequency of cockroaches is increasing
Think we could be lookin' at infestation
The house may become unfit to live in.
The place is spotlessly clean
The worktops look surgically sterile
None o' the kids are looking feral
'Cept that one with the funny eyes
And he’s got nowt to do with me.
Our day-to day-living is kind of structured.
Mind you last night got home, all the kids were in the rabbit hutch.
And the house was full of fluffy bunnies
Not eating cockroaches.
Cockroach
Cockroach...
I’m becoming obsessed with these creatures
These cockroaches encroaching 'pon my well-being
By nature I’m all live and let live
But think I’m gonna get a man in
With chemicals in a gun thing.
Cockroach
These cockroach...cockroach...
Lalala lala laaaaa-ah
Cockroach...
Seen one...cockroach, scuttling
Lalala lala la laaaaa...
Cockroach...scuttling...cockroach
The Roach

Dissident Citizen
04:12
|
|||
Clear the area
It could get outta control
Seal the perimeter
These people, they could all explode.
Calm the authorities
It’s all under control
Innocent citizens
Innocent dissidents
We kinda like a summer stroll
Kids on our shoulders and sausage rolls
Let’s join a demo, ban neo-Nazi scum
Officers keep your distance
This is passive resistance...resistance...

Snake Pass Luggage
05:03
|
|||
Hey Jim, where you been?
Snake Pass, driving through the forest
Why you shaking?
Found a bag, a bag in a lay-by...
Well what’s inside it? Get in we'll drive somewhere quiet...
It’s an off-the-scale carboot sale!
You’ve got guns, knives, drugs...no fancy plates...
My friend, you’ve acquired some game changing luggage!
I’m gonna take it home, take my time 'bout right and wrong
It’s finders keepers, losers weepers
No one’s lookin' for us...
You work down the town hall, keep an 'amster, don’t see you as a gangster
I was bored, now I’m excited...
Guns, knives, drugs...game-changin' luggage...
I’m gonna take it home, take my time 'bout right and wrong
It’s finders keepers, losers weepers
No one’s lookin' for us...

Codewriter
04:10
|
|||
Go and fix the car mate, I’ve appointments to keep
Are you going to the dentist, fix yer wonky teeth?
It’s none o' yer business, I’ve a few errands to run...
Soz, can’t get the parts till Monday, I’ve had too much on.
You know you're a waste of space, and this place is tiny.
I can’t shrink, and I do try and keep it tidy
I could get a fancy job
Writing code and earn a lot
I could work from a yacht, somewhere hot, get a dog...
When you do please be sure
Pop back here with lifting gear
Lift my jaw off the floor, lift my jaw off the floor...
You never show any faith...
Well fix the car and I’ll drive us to a church.
Look...I’ve enrolled on a codewriting course at a tech hub
No you’ve enrolled on a fag-rolling course at a clown hub!
I could get a fancy job
Writing code and earn a lot
I could work from a yacht, somewhere hot, get a dog
When you do please be sure
Pop back here with lifting gear
Lift my jaw off the floor, lift my jaw off the floor...
Ye of little faith
Oh ye of little faith...

104 Words
02:34
|
|||
We drove dead fast with the lights switched off
Our spirit, it was burnin'
Those days are gone, we ain’t as strong
Strong, mad and fearless.
Now I’ve been meaning to call ya
But you know, what with one thing an' another
I didn’t fancy rakin' up the past
Dead flowers don’t need water.
Look, not everything that grows in the forest
Grows up straight n honest
The most crooked trees take my breath away
Take my breath away.
There are many things to die for
But nothing to kill for
Stand up for your rights, defend those crooked trees
And don’t live life on your knees...
Up, up, up up up up

Odd Sock Drawer
03:23
|
|||
What's in the odd sock draw?
What's in the odd sock draw?
Kind, honest, brave and true
That’s not me and that’s not you.
Quiet despair gets you nowhere
Kick off a lot 'bout what you’ve not got.
That’s what’s in the odd sock drawer
That’s what’s in the odd sock drawer
By the power invested in me
I’m powerless can’t you see?
By the power invested in us
You never know we could change some stuff.
Just cos you’re right, don’t make it right
Just cos you own it, don’t make it yours.
That’s what’s in the odd sock drawer
That’s what’s in the odd sock drawer
He lives on vegetables
Advises abstinence from chemicals
He’s always hungry, he’s always hungry
Could turn rabid and eat yer baby
He’s in the odd sock drawer
He’s in the odd sock drawer
As I witness the perishing of my brilliant brain
The smart ones cross their legs
All wearing matching socks
I’m in the odd sock drawer
Get in the odd sock drawer

The Mercy Clown
03:32
|
|||
Show, show, show me mercy
Gave the telly to a junky
Show, show, show me mercy
Drank a load of morning whisky...
Give me strength!!
Show, show, show me mercy
I’m a lazy git, mauled by inertia
Show, show, show me mercy
I’m Northern junk, trainers are filthy...
Give me strength!!
Mercy...
Show, show, show me mercy
Brought the wrong kids back from the nursery
Show, show, show me mercy
Sold the dog for gamblin' money
Give me strength!!
Mercy...mercy upon me
Show, show, show me mercy
I know, I know, I ain’t worthy
Show, show, show me mercy
I act dead hard but I’m really mardy...

Sugar Rush
05:21
|
|||
It’s midnight
Two drunks talk crap under lampposts
The cognitive elite are all at home fast asleep
Dreaming eggs florentine
I’m out on my push bike, been the late shop
Forgot stuff
Block o' cheese, gummy bears
Essential commodities
Cycle home
Stray dogs chase me
Could do with a night out
Could get lucky...
You can ask me out if you like
Be still your beatin' heart
Act fast, while stocks last...
We'll go burning it at both ends
Flooring it through all the bends
Get all guns blazin'
Yeah your luck's a-changin'
Could do with a night out
Could get lucky...could get lucky...
You can ask me out if you like
Be still your beatin' heart
Act fast, while stocks last...
We'll go burning it at both ends
Flooring it through all the bends
Get all guns blazin'
Yeah your luck's a-changin'...
Could get lucky...you could get lucky...could get lucky...
..
..
..
..
..
..
We'll go burning it at both ends
Flooring it through all the bends
Get all guns blazin'
Yeah your luck's a-changin'...

King Of The Slums Manchester, UK
King of the Slums are probably the most ‘under the radar’ and important band to come from Manchester. They started up around
1985 in the Hulme, area of Manchester but never considered themselves a 'Manchester' band - just a band with an arty background, a little self-indulgent and gritty, story-type songs..
